Professional Knowledge (1) the Early Childhood Regulations- I am aware of the centre's regulation that children should not be left unsupervised especially if that seriously affects quality of care being provided or safety of a child.

As a teacher, if you have the professional knowledge you are able to use the assessment results to plan further learning for individual students as shown on "showing an emerging interest", "snails" then the "bug hunt". You also provide materials which support the goals and engage students. I used magnifying glasses to motivate and engage Henry in his learning and to enable him to notice that magnifying glasses make the bug look bigger.

Teaching (16)- I noted that the children had developed interest in a crane and I explained to them how it works. Mostly I was thrilled with the way they would find a strategic position to be able to see and also how they thought that I could lift them so as to clearly see. I demonstrated that I can be flexible and respond to the needs of the children thus successfully engaging them so as to guide them in their learning.
Professional knowledge (5)- Instead of going to look for snails and slugs I used a book to help the child recap on what he had learnt the previous day.
Professional knowledge (6)- I chose books, life- like toys and pictures to extend the children's interest in insects and bugs.

Professional Relationships (20)- Contributing to the life of the learning centre.
I contributed actively, positively and constructively to this parent event and social occasion by taking my time to talk to the parents and getting to know the families of the children I teach and serving them tea.

Teaching (16)-I demonstrated flexibility and responsiveness by providing blocks for the child to help him extend his knowledge of trains.

I saw Noah's interest and provided him with a book that had the fire truck song and took him a video which I showed him. I demonstrated that I can use appropriate technology and resources in teaching and extending childrens learning also provide feedback to students and assesses learning. He was so excited to see this video and very eager to sing th e song to his friends whenever he could.

Teaching (14)- I showed that I can successfully engage students in learning by providing materials or resources which support the goals( interest in transport) and engage the students. In order to engage the children I had to place materials and the equipment in a way that facilitates social interaction within the learning environment. For instance I had to think about how I will make places available for children to sit individually, in groups, sit on the floor, stand and move about. I had to decide what equipment is safe, secure, interesting and place it to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the environment thus maximising children's enjoyment of it. I also had to place the equipment and materials to stimulate children's curiosity, interest and brain development.
Professional Practice (9) - I was able to manage student learning by organising tasks for the groups of children to productively engage them in learning and encourage individual exploration and thinking.I also had to place myself where I was able to see the children.

Professional Knowledge (6)- I was able to show appropriate learning activities which can enable students progress and also materials which can be provided to support in Maths, Science and Technology.

Professional Leadership (25)- I showed that I can support and lead other teachers. This was used as an example of what is expected, when teachers post things on the centres blog. That the blog should be used as a way of communicating with parents on what children will be learning for example when playing in the sand pit.

Professional Practice (7)
To achieve this in my practice my interactions with children demonstrate general warmth, caring and respect. I also make sure that students interactions with each other are generally respectful and considerate for example discouraging inappropriate behaviour like biting, pulling hair, pushing each other and snatching toys from each other.

Reflection

Professional Relationships (17)
In this reflection I was reflecting on my teaching with a view to improvement.I discovered that though I had worked with children before I had a lot to learn with the toddlers and also in my practice. I am a teacher but I am learning a lot of things from these toddlers which is also helping me to improve on my practice and also work on my relationships with them (relationships are important as they are the foundation on which learning is based on, from the children themselves to the whole community which includes other team members, families and whanau) and it all begins with communication. I talk to parents when they come to pick/drop their children. This helps me to get to know them, their culture and also their expectations as far as their children are concerned.Communication also helps me to develop professionally as I share ideas with other members of staff. This communication helps me to contribute to the life of the learning centre because I will be learning new things implementing them and also sharing what I know with the team members, whanau and families as well as other caregivers.
Above all in developing relationships I should maintain confidentiality, trust and respect in whatever I do / say as a teacher who is serving the community and also the country Aotearoa of New Zealand. As I reflect on my teaching and practice so far, I have put every effort I could to maintain these.

Teacher registration

Today I have now started my teacher registration. The most thing I enjoy as an early childhood educator is writting learning stories and spending time with the children. I value relationships as they form the central part in my life as a teacher.
